Knit Smocking Stitch Tutorial

Today's video is on this beautiful Knit Smoking Stitch. I recently used it in one of my beanie patterns, the Knit Trelyss Beanie which is a knit version of the Crochet Trelyss Slouch (sorta). Be on the lookout for the beanie release soon!

ABBREVIATIONS
co – Cast on st(s) – Stitch(es) k – Knit rep – Repeat
cn – Cable Needle
Special Stitch: SM5 (Smock 5) – Slip 5 sts as if to purl onto a cable needle. Wrap working yarn around the 5 sts in a counterclockwise direction. Knit from the cable needle as follows: k1, p3, k1.
This Stitch Pattern requires stitches in multiples of 8 + 7
Row 1 (Right Side): p1, k1, *p3, k1. Rep from * until last st. End with p1.
Row 2 (& all wrong side rows): k1, p1, *k3, p1. Re from * across. (Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches)
Row 3: p1, *sm5 (as follows: sl5 onto cn, wrap the 5sts counterclockwise twice, k from the cn as follows: [k1, p3, k1], p3. Rep from * until last st. End with p1.
Rows 4-8: Knit the Knit Stitches, Purl the Purl Stitches.
Row 9: p1, k1, p3 *sm5 (as follows: sl5 onto cn, wrap the 5sts counterclockwise twice, k from the cn as follows: [k1, p3, k1], p3. Rep from * until last 5 sts. End with p3, k1, p1.
Row 10-12: Knit the Knit Stitches, Purl the Purl Stitches.
Rep Rounds 1-12 until desired size.
