Left (LT) & Right (RT) Twist Stitch Tutorial



Today's tutorial is on the Left Twist (LT) & Right Twist (RT) Stitches. These are great stitches that provides a faux cable look without the cable needles!

I've used the Right Twist stitch in my Grapevine & Jesse Slouch Beanies (Patterns available in shops... click link above photos).




My latest Casey Slouch Pattern uses the Left Twist Stitch



Left Twist (LT) Stitch

Working with 2 stitches -

Option 1:

Step 1: Knit the 2nd stitch through the back loop without sliding stitches off left hand needle.

Step 2: Knit both stitches through the back loops

Step 3: Slide stitches off left hand needle

Option 2:

Step 1: Knit the 2nd stitch through the back loop without sliding stitches off left hand needle.

Step 2: Knit the 1st stitch through the front loop (normal knit stitch)

Step 3: Slide stitches off left hand needle

Option 3:

Step 1: Knit the 2nd stitch through the back loop without sliding stitches off left hand needle.

Step 2: Knit the 1st stitch through the back loop

Step 3: Slide stitches off left hand needle

Right Twist (RT) Stitch (2 options)

Working with 2 stitches -

OPTION 1:

Step 1: Knit the 2nd stitch without sliding stitches off left hand needle.

Step 2: Knit the 1st stitch

Step 3: Slide stitches off left hand needle

OPTION 2:

Step 1: Knit 2 stitches together (k2tog) without sliding stitches off left hand needle.

Step 2: Knit the 1st stitch

Step 3: Slide stitches off left hand needle
