Knit Falling Leaves Shawl Pattern & Tutorial

Hello friends! I'm so excited to share today's free pattern: the Falling Leaves Shawl. You can find the PDF pattern in all my shops, and I'm loving how it looks in this dusty rose color!

Most of the shawl is knitted in garter stitches (knit on both wrong and right sides) except the leaf pattern which consists of yarn over (yo) stitches for increases and a few different types of decrease stitch.

NOTES – Pattern is written in US terms. The Falling Leaves Shawl is knitted from the bottom corner up in a triangle, increasing on both sides. You will slip the first stitch on both sides purl-wise (as if to purl), with your yarn in the front. This pattern starts on the wrong side.

Repeat rows 49-64 (between the 2 blue lines in chart) or until the shawl measures approximately 42" from cast-on to needles. End on row 53 or 61.

finishing Rows
right side rows: sl1, k to marker, remove marker, k to last 2 sts. yo, k2.
wrong side rows: sl1, p1, yo, k all remaining sts.
Rep these 2 rows until the garter sts are approx. 2" wide ending on the wrong side.
cast off: k2, slip the first knitted st over the just knitted st, [k1, slip the previously knitted st over the just knitted st]. Rep between [ ] across.
Secure and weave in all ends. Block as desired.
