Hi everyone! Today's review is on something a little different. I had the opportunity to try out the KnitCompanion app for knitting (great for crochet too!). knitCompanion is a creation of Create2Thrive, Inc. Check out their customer base around the world! Customers in all these countries and regions are using knitCompanion with their own PDF patterns.
The app is available for apple and android users. I have an iPhone so I will review based on my experiences with the iOS version.
Once I clicked on the iOS icon, I was taken to a page with very useful resources. As you can see in my screenshot below, you can start with a tour, access FAQs, watch video tutorials and get support! How awesome is that? You can try the free version to see if you like it before purchasing the app. It is an annual subscription so give it a try first!
I was able to link my Ravelry Account & Dropbox to the app. From there, I was able to download my files and store them on the app.
When designing my latest beanie pattern, I used this app to double check my work prior to sending it to my testers.
There are so many features that I Have yet to explore but what I love about this app is that you can sync your account to it. You can download your patterns (or patterns you purchased) and have them saved in the app.
I love the highlighted bar to keep track of where I am in my work. You can invert this so that it darkens the rest of the pattern. You can choose to highlight a specific part of the pattern. You can also use the stitch counter to your right.
Here's a screenshot of a few of the patterns I downloaded to the app. I know there's so much you can do with this app that I haven't tried! For example, if you like my video tutorials, you can link it to the app! yes! seriously! ^_^
If you try the free version and want to explore the full feature of the app, you can "upgrade" and get a week free to try out the full version!
