  • Super Bulky Yarn. I'm using Loops & Threads, Lush Alpaca in Teal. I used exactly 1 skein including the XL pom pom (86 yards per skein).

  • US 13, 9mm 16" Circular needles. (my fav are the Hiya Hiya short tips)

  • US 15, 10mm 16" Circular needles. (see below for affiliate link to my fav needles)

  • Scissor | Purchase the Vintage Style Floral Scissor here!

  • Tape Measure

  • Tapestry Needle

  • 10mm Double Pointed Needle (optional) or use modified magic loop method (tutorial here)

  • Stitch Marker | Make your own stitch marker here!

  • Pom Pom Maker (for yarn pom pom)

co – Cast on

st(s) - Stitch(es)

k – Knit

p - Purl

yo - yarn over

rep – Repeat

k2tog – Knit 2 stitches together

Co 40. Add stitch marker and join, careful not to twist sts.

k1, p1 around.

Rep for a total of 7 rounds or until desired height of brim is reached.

Main beanie:

Round 1: knit all sts.

Round 2: *k2, yo, k2, pass yo st over 2 knit sts. Rep from * around.

Round 3: knit all sts.

Round 4: *yo, k2, pass yo st over 2 knit sts, k2. Rep from * around.

Repeat Rounds 1-4 until beanie measures approx. 8.5-9 inches or as short/tall as you’d like (easily adjust slouch). End after round 2.

If your sts get too tight around the circular needle, you can switch to Double Pointed Needles or use the magic loop method (tutorial here).

Decrease Rounds:

Round 1: *k2, k2tog. Rep from * around.

Round 2: *yo, k2, pass yo over the 2 knit sts, k1. Rep from * around.

Round 3: *k2tog, k1. Rep from * around.

Round 4: knit all sts.

Round 5: *k1, k2tog. Rep from * around. Knit any remaining sts.

Cut yarn leaving a tail and weave through remaining sts with tapestry needle (as if to knit). Pull tight and secure. Weave in all ends.

Add pom pom if you'd like! See below for 2 different pom videos!
