Knit Twisted Headband Pattern & Tutorial

Updated: Nov 12, 2020

Welcome! Today’s tutorial is on a knit twisted headband. I've been meaning to make one of these for some time now. I'm so glad I finally finished it. I have been trying to make a video for all my patterns which is delaying my releases (by a lot!).

See below video for step-by-step instructions or visit my channel for more videos.

Pattern

Small (Large)

Small: 3” wide | Large: 6” wide

Sizes are based on width (not circumference)

Adjust width by increasing or decreasing number of sts for co.

Co 22 (46) sts

Join* and k st st in the round for a total of 88 (90) rounds or until you’re happy with the size (circumference). See standard head size chart above.

*If you are knitting flat, do not join.

Follow these instructions:

Row 1 (wrong side): Purl every stitch.

Row 2: Knit every stitch.

Repeat Row 1 & 2.

Finish with a 3 needle bind off to close the tube or whatever method you prefer.

If knitting flat, stitch together the long edges and then stitch the short ends closed.

Divide stitches in half (as evenly as possible) and slide the stitches towards the tips of the needles. Insert the third needle through both loops and knit. *k the next st, pass the previous st over the just knitted st. Repeat from * until end. Fasten off.

Use a tapestry needle to close the other end. Make sure not to twist the tube.

Bring the 2 short ends together folding each end in half and place them together. Use a tapestry needle to sew making sure you insert needle through all 4 layers.

Turn right side out. Weave in all ends.
