Knit Prickly Ribbed Beanie Pattern

Just released is the Knit Prickly Ribbed Beanie. This beanie doesn't have a distinguish "brim" but instead, has an all over rib pattern with little knots although with the super bulky yarn, it's more of a "pretty noticeable" knot! LOL

I used Lion Brand's Hometown USA in Riverdale Tweed Yarn. This a100% acrylic yarn reminds me of the Wool Ease Thick and Quick, Kale Color. So if you love the Kale color in WETQ but your skin doesn't love the wool blend, this is the ultimate dupe (even though it's the same brand) lol.

You can find the ad-free pdf pattern in my shops or save it as a favorite. Links to video and resources are provided in the pdf pattern as well.

SKILL LEVEL – Advanced Beginner

Instructions

Baby (Toddler, Child, Adult)

This pattern requires stitches in multiples of 4. I've avoided adding any increase or decreases to the pattern at the beginning so for Toddler and Adult, you're going to use the larger needle to get a larger circumference. You can play with different size needles to get the right fit.

GAUGE | Stockinette in US15/10mm

4” = 10 Stitches | 14 Rounds

US13/9mm Needles | Baby & Child

US15/10mm Needles | Toddler & Adult

Co 36 (36, 40, 40) Add stitch marker and join careful not to twist sts.

Rounds 1-3: *ktbl, p1. Rep from * around.

Round 4: *ktbl, p1, knot st, p1. Rep from * around.

Baby & Child sizes only - Switch to US15 Needles

Rounds 5-7: *ktbl, p1. Rep from * around.

Round 8: *knot st (see special st above), p1, ktbl, p1. Rep from * around.

Repeat Rounds 1-8 until beanie measures:

  • Fitted: Stop when beanie measures desired height from chart below.

  • Slouch: Stop approx. 2-3” above the desired height from chart below.

Decrease Rounds

Switch to dpns when stitches are too tight on circular needles or try the Modified Magic Loop!

Round 1: *k3tog, p1. Rep from * around.

Round 2-3: *k1, p1. Rep from * around.

Finishing

Cut yarn leaving long tail. Using a tapestry needle, weave through remaining stitches as if to knit and pull tight. Secure and weave in all ends.

Pom Pom

Using an extra-large pom pom maker (or desired size), make pom pom by wrapping yarn around pom maker until full or as thick as you’d like and attach to beanie.
