Today's post is on an adorable little newborn Bonnet. My dear friend had a baby girl so I wanted to knit a cute little bonnet for her. I used Hobby Lobby's I Love this Cotton yarn. This is one of my favorite (and more affordable) cotton yarn.

Materials
5.5mm Knitting Needles (Straight or circular)
Worsted Weight Cotton - I Love this Cotton from Hobby Lobby (1oz/51 yards)
5.5mm Double Pointed Needles (4 dpns)
Scissor
Stitch Marker (optional for magic loop method)
Tapestry Needle
5.5mm Crochet Hook
Abbreviations
co - Cast on
st(s) - Stitches
k - Knit
p - Purl
uls - Under Loose Strands
sl - Slip
wyib - With yarn in back
wyif - With yarn in front
dpn - Double Pointed Needles
k2tog - Knit 2 stitches together
Notes: When slipping first & last stitch of knit rows, slip knit-wise (as if to knit) with yarn in back. When slipping the 5 sts, slip purl-wise (as if to purl) with yarn in front. When knitting under loose strands (uls), insert right hand needle under the 3 loose strands in the front (right side) of work before purling the next st.
Gauge: 1" = 3.75 sts | 5.5 rows
Measurement: Height (brim to top crown) 5" | Circumference 10"
Instructions
co 37 sts using the Cable Cast on Method
Row 1: sl1 wyib, k all sts until last st, end sl1 wyib
Row 2: p all sts
Row 3: sl1 wyib, *k5, sl5 wyif. Repeat from * across until last 6 sts. k5, sl1 wyib
Row 4: p all sts

Row 5: sl1 wyib, *k5, sl5 wyif. Repeat from * across until last 6 sts. k5, sl1 wyib.
Row 6: p all sts

Row 7: sl1 wyib, *k5, sl5 wyif. Repeat from * across until last 6 sts. k5, sl1 wyib.
Row 8: p8, *p uls, p9. Repeat from * across until last 8 sts. end p8.
Row 9: sl1 wyib, *sl5 wyif, k5. Repeat from * across until last 6 sts. sl5 wyif, sl1 wyib
Row 10: p all sts
Row 11: sl1 wyib, *sl5 wyif, k5. Repeat from * across until last 6 sts. sl5 wyif, sl1 wyib
Row 12: p all sts
Row 13: sl1 wyib, *sl5 wyif, k5. Repeat from * across until last 6 sts. sl5 wyif, sl1 wyib
Row 14: p3, *p uls, p9. Repeat from * across until last 3 sts. end p3
Repeat Row 3-14 once. Your piece should measure 4"
Divide the 37 stitches evenly onto 3 double pointed needles. The first 2 will have 12 stitches and the last needle will have 13 stitches.
Join round by working an invisible join:
sl1 on left hand needle purl-wise
pass 2nd stitch on right hand needle over the just slipped stitch
place the first slipped stitch back on the left hand needle.
You should now have 36 sts (12 on each dpn). Use your 4th dpn to knit with.
For each needle: k all sts until last 2 sts and then k2tog. See instructions below:
Round 1: k10, k2tog on every dpn around
Round 2: k9, k2tog on every dpn around
Round 3: k8, k2tog on every dpn around
Round 4: k7, k2tog on every dpn around
Round 5: k6, k2tog on every dpn around
Round 6: k5, k2tog on every dpn around
Round 7: k4, k2tog on every dpn around
Round 8: k3, k2tog on every dpn around
Round 9: k2, k2tog on every dpn around
Round 10: k1, k2tog on every dpn around
Using a tapestry needle, insert through remaining sts as if to knit & cinch up. Weave in ends.
Ties
Using your crochet hook, Fasten on the corner of the bonnet.
Chain 40 sts or as long as you'd like. slip stitch into 2nd chain from your hook and back across. sl st into the bonnet (where you started).
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Repeat for other side.
