Knit Butterfly Stitch Tutorial

I've had my eye on the butterfly stitch for quite some time now and have finally made a beanie & cowl set using this stitch. Today's pattern is on the butterfly knit stitch.

Let's get started!

Supplies:

• Yarn: Any size yarn with appropriate needle size for that yarn. I'm using Lion Brand's Wool Ease Thick and Quick in the Color Kale. (A special thanks to Lion Brand for providing the yarn.)

• Needles: I'm using Hiya Hiya Interchangeable Circular Knitting Needles in size Large

• Stitch Marker for knitting in the round

• Scissors

WORKED IN ROWS:

Cast on in multiples of 10 stitches plus whatever you want on each side of the edge. The pattern is for the 10 stitches that make up the butterfly stitch.

Row 1: *slip 5 stitches with yarn in front, knit 5* Repeat between * to end

Row 2: purl all stitches

Row 3: Repeat Row 1

Row 4: Repeat Row 2

Row 5: Repeat Row 1

Row 6: Repeat Row 2

Row 7: Repeat Row 1

Row 8: Repeat Row 2

Row 9: *knit 2, knit 1 under loose strands (see photo below), knit 2, knit 5* Repeat between * to end

Row 10: Purl all stitches

Row 11: *k5, slip 5 stitches with yarn in front* Repeat between * to end

Row 12: purl all stitches

Row 13: Repeat Row 11

Row 14: Repeat Row 12

Row 15: Repeat Row 11

Row 16: Repeat Row 12

Row 17: Repeat Row 11

Row 18: Repeat Row 12

Row 19: *k7, knit 1 under loose strands, knit 2* Repeat between * to end

Row 20: Purl all stitches

Repeat Rows 1-20 until desired size
