This post contains affiliate links. See bottom of post for privacy disclosure information.

Hello friends! Thank you for stopping by! During my Knotted Rib Stitch Tutorial, I realzied I didn't have a video for just knitting and purlng through the back loop (abbreviated as KTBL & PTBL).

Knitting through the back loops, twists your stitches. Twisting your stitches gives your fabric additional texture.

When you knit a normal stitch, you insert your needle through the front loop as shown below.

Knitting through the back loop just means that you're inserting your needle through the back loop.

It's the same with Purling. You insert your needle through the front loop as normal as shown below.

Purling through the back loop just means that you're inserting your needle through the back loop. With purling it's a little awkward but with a little practice, you'll be PTBL like a pro!

If you don't know the basics, you can definitely check out my YouTube Channel for beginner's How to Knit Video Tutorials. Don't see what you need? Let me know and I'll add it to my list! There's so many videos out there, I know you will find the one that's right for you!
