Hiya Hiya Interchangeable Knitting Needles Review

I have been asked so many times what my favorite needles are and what I use. Before I begin, this is just my opinion. I don't own tons of needles to compare them (unfortunately!).

I do love the ones I have and wanted to review them. These are the Hiya Hiya Interchangeable Knitting Needles I purchased for myself on my birthday in 2016. Yes, I know it's an overdue review. They were my very first set of interchangeable knitting needles.

I knit with mostly bulky & super bulky yarn so I wanted a set with at least a US 13 & 15 and I needed a 16" cable for my beanies (80% of what I love to knit). I wanted to move away from the bamboo and wood needles because I got better at knitting and I felt that it wasn't sliding off the needles as smoothly and quickly as I needed it to.

These were my "must haves":

  • 16" cable

  • US 13 9mm Tips

  • US 15 10mm Tips

  • Steel

I started searching on Amazon and there are so many overwhelming choices. Most sets range from $50 to over $100 and most sets usually only go up to a US 10.5 or 11 which is 6.5mm & 8mm. I found a couple that met all my must haves but they were around $130 for the set and I really didn't need all the small sizes.

If the set had the larger needles, they didn't work with 16" cables because the tips were too long.... it was a nightmare! Okay, maybe not but I was ready to give up then I found the Hiya Hiya set!

  • Steel needles (check!)

  • Six Large sizes 4" tips from 5.5mm to 10mm (check!)

  • Includes 4 cable sizes including 16" (check!)

And because it's only the larger sizes, it was under $80! It was perfect!

The thing I love about Amazon is I ordered it that night and it was at my house at 10am the next day (because it was a next day delivery). Freaking awesome! It wasn't my birthday for another month but I couldn't wait that long! They're not sponsoring this post, I just love to shop on Amazon (maybe too much).

The set came in a green cloth case. Now, I'm not in love with the case. I take my needles & Clover Amour Hooks (read review here) everywhere I go & my needles always fall out and I have to look for them at the bottom of my bag. So I purchased a case to keep all my needles (see case review here!)

The Hiya Hiya Interchangeable 4" Large Knitting Needle set included:

  • 1 Case with two zipper compartments.

  • 6 sets of 4" Steel needle tips (5.5mm, 6mm, 6.5mm, 8mm, 9mm, 10mm)

  • 4 Cables - 16", 24", 32" & 42"

  • 2 Rubber grips - to tighten the tips to cable (but I've never used them and they don't unscrew). I had no idea what these were for at first ha-ha

Regardless of the bag, the needles were awesome. I love the slick tips and I felt like it increased my knitting speed so much and helped me be a more efficient knitter. When I purchased these, I had only been knitting for less than 1 year & just started growing on social media (right about the same time I started designing).

I'm sure that other steel needles are just as great or even better but for me, this was the best set for what I needed.

Thank you for stopping by! I have not been able to find other sets that are short tips and works with 16" cables. I've called many companies after looking around and most of them don't have what I want. If you know of any, please do tell! I'm always looking for new sets!
