Crochet Linen (Moss/Granite) Stitch Tutorial



Today's tutorial is on the Crochet Linen Stitch. It's also known as the Granite or Moss Stitch. This stitch is super simple to crochet with just chain stitches & single crochet stitches & so it's great for beginners! I will provide instructions on working this stitch in rows.

I have a crochet beanie pattern available in this stitch. The Tyler Slouch Beanie can be worked with any weight yarn with the recommended hook size. The pattern is available in all shops.

SUPPLIES:

  • Yarn. I'm using Lion Brand's Wool Ease Thick & Quick (click on photo below to purchase).

  • Appropriate hook size (check your yarn label) - I'm using 9mm from Hobby Lobby


 


ABBREVIATIONS

ch - chain

st(s) - Stitch(es)

sk - Skip

sc - Single Crochet


Instructions for working in ROWS:

ch any even number of sts.

Row 1: 1sc into 2nd ch from the hook, *ch1, sk 1 st, 1sc into next. Rep from * to end.

Row 2: ch1 & turn your work, 1sc in the first ch1 space, ch1, *1sc into the next ch1 sp, ch1. Rep from * to end. End with 1sc into the last st.

Repeat Row 2 until desired size. ​Cut yarn leaving a tail and weave in all ends.
