Crochet Green Bow Tie Pattern

This is actually a really old pattern but I'm re-posting it here on my new blog and fine tuning (hopefully improving it). It's a really quick and easy project! This is great for absolute beginners! I've included a beginner's video on this post for basic crochet stitches in case you need assistance or you can visit my "How to Crochet" playlist on YouTube.

Originally I worked this bow with the dark green first and then decided to add the lighter green as trim. So that's how I originally wrote the pattern. I've included an option to crochet all of it starting with the bottom lighter green first & switching color as you go.

MATERIALS

Worsted weight yarn: I used Red Heart Super Saver (Main Color & Contrasting Color)

5mm Crochet hook

Scissors

Tapestry needle

Safety pin

ABBREVIATIONS

ch - Chain

st(s) - Stitch(es)

sl st- Slip Stitch

sc - Single Crochet

dc - Double Crochet

mc - Main Color (Dark Green)

cc - Contrasting Color (light green)

PATTERN - Working in 2 parts. The MC is crocheted first and then the CC is added at the end.

The beginning ch2 does not count as a st. The first st is worked in the same st as the ch2.

(MC) ch as many ch sts as you'd like for the size you want when folded in half (measuring across). sl into the first ch (careful not to twist chain)

(MC) Round 1-2: ch2, 1dc in each st around. sl st into the top of the 1st dc

Fasten Off. If you want your bow tie bigger (taller) work more rounds.

(CC) Fasten on & work 1sc into each st on top and bottom. Fasten off. Weave in your ends.

(MC) Wrap the middle squeezing it a little too. Tie at the back and add a safety pin.

Alternatively, you can crochet all in one piece switching colors.

PATTERN - The MC & CC are crocheted at the same time (switching colors at different parts of the project).

The beginning ch2 does not count as a st. The first st is worked in the same st as the ch2.

(CC) ch as many ch sts as you'd like for the size you want when folded in half (measuring across). sl into the first ch (careful not to twist chain)

(CC) Round 1: ch1 & 1sc into each st around. sl st to the first sc st.

(MC) Round 2-3: ch2, 1dc in each st around. sl st into the top of the 1st dc

(CC) Round 4: ch1 & 1sc into each st around. sl st to the first sc st.

Fasten off & weave in all ends. If you want your bow tie bigger (taller) work more rounds.

(MC) Wrap the middle squeezing it a little too. Tie at the back and add a safety pin.
