Crochet Granny Square #1 Pattern & Tutorial

Updated: Dec 20, 2020

Yay for Granny Squares! I have a few Granny Square patterns floating somewhere but I decided to start with this one as a #1. I know I will be posting more in the future and there isn't always a name associated with the stitch patterns in the books I have.

Okay, enough of that. I chose this Granny Square stitch as pockets for my newest Crochet Cardigan design. I used a different Granny Square as a pocket once and I really loved it so I decided to do that again this time.

Here's the new pattern that is currently being tested.

Here's a look at my first cardigan using a granny square for pockets, Granny Square Cardigan

MATERIALS

Yarn: Lion Brand, Heartland, Grand Canyon (0.7oz) for ONE square

Crochet Hook: US I/5.5mm

Tapestry/Yarn Needle

Scissors

Stitch Marker (optional)

st(s) - Stitch(es)

PATTERN NOTES

The size of this granny square is approx a 6x6 Square. Instead of chaining 3 in the beginning of the rounds, I used the chainless double crochet stitch. I show it once slowly in video.
