Today's tutorial is on the crochet Bead Stitch. I will demonstrate in the video (at bottom of post) how to crochet this beautiful textured stitch.
I used the Bead Stitch in my new Tucker Slouch Beanie (pattern available in shops).
So grab your yarn & hook and let's get started!
Abbreviations:
ch - chain
st(s) - stitch(es)
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
yo - yarn over
sk - sk
Special Stitch:
Bead Stitch (crocheted around post of a dc st) - [Yo, insert hook from right to left of dc post, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 1 loop] 3 times. yo, pull through 6 loops on hook, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook.
Foundation:
ch any even number of sts.
Row 1: 1sc into 2nd ch from hook and every ch across.
Row 2: ch3 and turn. 1dc into the next st, work bead st around previously crocheted dc st. *sk 1 st, 1dc into the next st, work bead st around previously crocheted dc st. Repeat from * to end. 1 dc into the ch1 turning ch from foundation.
Note: make sure you still have the same even number of sts
Row 3: ch1 and turn, 1sc into same st & every st across. (last st is crocheted into the 3rd ch from the ch3 below).
Note: make sure you still have the same even number of sts
Row 4: ch3 and turn. 1dc into the next st, work bead st around previously crocheted dc st. *sk 1 st, 1dc into the next st, work bead st around previously crocheted dc st. Repeat from * to end.
Repeat Rows 3 & 4 until desired size ending after Row 3 (single crochet row) to finish off edge..
