I am excited to finally film and post this video to show you how I work a chinless double crochet stitch. This is especially useful for an invisible seam when working in the round. It also helps fill the gaps that you get when chaining 3 for a double crochet stitch.
It can be finicky the first time you try it but it's such a nicer look (if you care). I took the opportunity to make the video while filming the Granny Square #1 pattern.
MATERIALS
Yarn: Lion Brand, Heartland, Grand Canyon (0.7oz) for ONE square
Crochet Hook: US I/5.5mm
INSTRUCTIONS

When you're ready to start your beginning double crochet (or chain 3 sts), this is where you will use this method.
Start by pulling up a tall loop, just a little taller than a double crochet stitch. You want to place your finger on the loop that's around the hook to hold it in place (this is important).
Next, you're going to bring your hook forward and to the back (like a yarn over).
Now insert your hook into the same stitch as the stitch you're pulling your loop from, yarn over and pull up a loop.
This will now start to look like a normal Double Crochet stitch. From this point, you're going to [yarn over & pull through 2] twice, just like you would a normal double crochet stitch. Keep or finger on the first loop.
Ta-Da! You're done!
