"X" Slouch Beanie Crochet Along (CAL)

Updated: Apr 19, 2019

I'm super excited to finally start my Crochet Along (CAL). If you follow my work, you know that I'm in love with slouch beanies so for this project, I designed a beanie using 2 colors! Given the "X" design it creates, I decided to call this the "X" Slouch Beanie! I know, Soooo creative right? ha-ha.

PATTERN

If you want to challenge yourself, try different types of ribbing here!

BRIM | 5.5mm Hook | Worked flat

Foundation (Col A): Ch9 (or as tall as you want your brim)

Row 1 (Col A): 1hdc into the 2nd ch from the hook and into each ch to the end. Ch1 and turn (8 sts)

Row 2 (Col A): 1hdc tbl of the first st and every st to the end. ch1 and turn (8 sts)

Repeat Row 2 until desired circumference size ending on the same side as the beg tail. Adjust size by crocheting less/more rows for a smaller/larger circumference.

The brim is stretchy. Give it a stretch and then lay it flat to measure for the length needed. You want a snug brim but not overstretched.

Seaming The Brim

Video Tutorial - The video is for a brim crocheted with slip stitches however the process is the same.

Align the 2 short ends together. Sew the two short ends of the brim together by doing a slip stitch through the “chain” end of the brim and tbl of the other end of the brim. Flip brim inside out so the seam is on the inside.

Note: You should have 3 sc sts for every 2 rows of brim. Round up to achieve multiple of 10 sts.

Rep Rounds 2-9 until beanie measures approx. 2” taller than the desired height measuring from bottom of brim (see chart on page 1). End after round 4 or 8.

Note: Crochet more or less rows to adjust for amount of slouch.
