Crochet Puff Sprays Blanket Pattern + Video

Updated: Jan 5, 2023

Hi everyone! I finished the blanket (finally). I confess I had planned to make it bigger but I just wanted it done! I have already posted the Wavy Puff Stitch Sprays Stitch tutorial which is an all over stitch pattern I used in this blanket. This stitch so absolutely beautiful! The puff stitches give this fabric a textured feminine look & feel.

When I initially bought this giant ball of yarn, I only bought one skein at my local Joann Stores. So when I knew I needed more, I ordered more online. The problem with that, the lot numbers will be different! I was hoping to get lucky but I wasn't! Of course I probably could have used the new skeins for the blanket and start over but that's over 1,000 yards of crochet I just did! so make sure you buy enough for larger projects!

Instructions

Special Stitch

Puff Stitch: [yo, insert hook in the indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops] 4x, yo, pull through 9 loops on hook]

Chain 189 stitches (which was approx. 63" wide) or in multiples of 17 +2

Row 1 (right side): 1dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as a dc2tog), [dc2tog over the next 2 ch sts] twice, *ch1, [1 puff st, ch1] 5 times, [dc2tog over the next 2 sts] 6 times. Rep from * until last 6 sts. End with [dc2tog] 3 times.

Row 2 (wrong side): ch1, turn, 1sc in every st across including all the ch1 sp.

Row 3: ch3, turn, 1dc in next st (ch3 + dc = dc2tog), [dc2tog over the next 2 ch sts] twice, *ch1, [1 puff st, ch1] 5 times, [dc2tog over the next 2 sts] 6 times. Rep from * until last 6 sts. End with [dc2tog] 3 times.

Repeat rows 2 & 3 until the desired size ending on row 2. Do not fasten off if you plan to add a border. I crocheted 1 row of single crochet stitches for the border (just the sides and bottom edge).

Border: 2sc in the same st (corner - 3 sc total), work sc sts evenly down the sides of the blanket. 3sc sts in the corner, 1sc in each of the foundation sts. 3sc in the corner, work sc sts evenly up the other side of the blanket working 2 sts in the last st. join to the next st.

Fasten off and weave in all ends. Block as desired.

I used 3 balls of the Point of Love which is approx. 3,060 yards.

That's it folks! Watch the video for tips on troubleshooting common mistakes.
