Crochet Tribal Cowl Free Pattern

Hi everyone! Today's free pattern & video is on this Crochet Tribal Cowl! This design is inspired by the Iu-Mien embroidery stitches. I've been wanting to design something that incorporates our traditional stitches.

INSTRUCTIONS

Child (Adult)

Foundation (mc): ch 120 (144) sts, Join with a sl st to the first ch careful not to twist the ch sts.

Setup Round 1: ch1 (does not count as a st), 1sc in the same st. pm here. 1sc in each ch st around. Do not join.

You will now work in a continuous round.

Setup Round 2: 1sc tbl of every st around.

Rounds 1- 22 (35): Following the color chart, work sc sts tbl of each st.

Changing colors

When you are ready to change colors, complete the current sc with the new color.

Example: (mc) insert hook tbl of next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo with (cc) & pull through 2 loops.

There are a few exceptions at the end of some rounds. When you work in a continuous round, sts don’t line up from one round to another. In order to correct this, special sts are added at the end of certain rounds. Please note, it’s only the last st of these rounds.

If you would like to use an all-over pattern, the repeat rounds are within the yellow box.

FINISHING

Last Round: 1sl st in every st around. Join with a sl st to the first st. Fasten off

& weave in ends.
