Crochet Mini Sunshine Bag - FREE Pattern

Hi Friends! The Crochet Mini Sunshine Bag is live! I used the leftover granny squares from my Sunburst Bag for this quick project!

This post contains affiliate links. Please see bottom of post for more information.

We Crochet sponsored last year's Blog Hop so I used their City Tweed (Aran/Worsted) Yarn. If you didn't already know, they are a sister company of Knit Picks, specifically for Crocheters.

If you're interested in the Sunburst bag, visit the free blog pattern here or purchase the ad-free pdf in my shops.

You can find the ad-free pdf pattern for the Mini Sunshine Bag in my shops or save them as a favorite.

SKILL LEVEL – Easy/Beginner

You can choose to make this in any color. For instructional purposes, I will start with A (Lemon Custard) as the main color & use B (Orca) as the contrasting color.

Instructions (Make 3)

Round 1: Start with a magic ring, work 8 puff sts (see special sts above) into the ring, sl st to top of first puff st. (8 puff sts)

Round 2: Sl st into the next sp (between puff sts), work 2 puff sts in every sp between previous puff sts, sl st to the first puff st. (16 puff sts)

Round 3: Sl st into the next sp (between puff sts), *work 2 puff sts, work 1 puff st in the next sp. Rep from * around. sl st to the first puff st. (24 puff sts)

Round 4: Sl st into the next sp (between puff sts), ch3, [2dc, ch2, 3dc] in same sp, ch1, *[dc, ch1] in next sp, [hdc, ch1] in next sp, [sc, ch1] in next sp, [hdc, ch1] in next sp, [dc, ch1] in next sp, [3dc, ch2, 3dc], ch1 in the next sp (corner). Rep from * omitting the last corner st. Join with a sl st to the ch3.

Weave in your ends before putting the bag together.

Assembling the Bag

Place 2 squares right sides out and fasten on in the corner ch2 sp working through both pieces.

Ch1, sc in the same ch2 sp. 2sc sts in the same ch2 sp, *1sc in every st across until the ch2 sp. 3sc in the ch2 sp. Rep from * twice working only 2sc in the last ch2 sp.

Note: make sure you only crocheted along 3 edges.

Place the 3rd square on the front with the right side out. The side (edge) you want to sew together is the top open side.

1sc in the ch2 sp through the back square & the new square. Work sc sts across the back square and new square, ending with just 1sc in the corner ch2 sp. Do not fasten off.

Straps Romanian Cord Video

Note: Work sts loosely.

1sc same ch2 sp. Ch1, 1sc back in the previous sc, turn clockwise, 1sc in the horizontal loop in the back of previous sc st, *turn clockwise, 1sc in the 2 horizontal loops in the back of the previous sc st. Rep from * until the desired length.

Complete the last sc st as follows: when inserting the hook into the 2 loops, insert the hook into the ch2 sp of another side, yo, pull through (including the 2 loops), complete the sc st.

Note: Turn your work back and forth to avoid tangles.

Button (optional)

Attach a toggle button on the front using a tapestry needle and scrap yarn in the same color. The toggle will be inserted through the space between 2 puff sts on the flap piece.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.
