Crochet Lilium Bag Pattern & Tutorial


Hi Friends! Today's free pattern is the LiLium Bag Pattern! I am a sucker for sales and I think you can relate! These Hooked Ribbon XL yarn was on sale! ERRR I couldn't resist so the result is a tote bag. Honestly, I would not have chosen green but it was the color on sale and it pushed me to get a color I normally wouldn't.

I used Hooked Ribbon XL yarn but you can use other heavy weight yarn like Lion Brand's Wool Ease Thick and Quick, a wool blend. Another great option is Hometown USA 100% acrylic yarn although this one is softer. I used this one in my video tutorial.

SPECIAL STITCHES


Tr2tog - Treble 2 sts together: *yo twice, insert hook in same st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] twice. Rep from * once, yo, pull through 3 loops on hook.


Cluster – *yo twice, insert hook in same st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] twice. Rep from * twice (4 loops on hook).


SKILL LEVEL – Intermediate


NOTES – Pattern is written in US terms.

BOTTOM BASE

Foundation: Ch25 (or as long as you want your length of base).


Row 1: 1sc into the 2nd ch from the hook and into each ch across. Ch1 and turn (24 sts)

Row 2: 1sl st tbl in the first st and each st across. Ch1 and turn (9 sts)


Repeat row 2 until you have a total of 7 rows or as many rows as you’d like your width of base. Keep in mind that you will add another row when working around the base.


Without turning, work sc sts around the base or in multiples of 6 for a total of 60 sts. Adjust as needed. Do not join.


· 3 sts in corners

· 1 st per row on sides

· 1sc in each sc st lengthwise



BODY

Set up round: 1sc tbl of each st around. Pm on first st of each round if desired.


Rounds 1-20: 1sc in each st around in a continuous roun


Note: Adjust bag height as desired. If you are adding the lace accent round, keep in mind of how tall you want your bag, where you want to place your accent round, and how much more you will work after the accent round.



LACE ACCENT (Optional) | Approx. 2”


Tr2tog - Treble 2 sts together: *yo twice, insert hook in same st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] twice. Rep from * once, yo, pull through 3 loops on hook.


Cluster – *yo twice, insert hook in same st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] twice. Rep from * twice (4 loops on hook).

Sk5 sts, *yo twice, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] twice. Rep from * twice, yo, pull through all 7 loops on hook, ch1 to secure.


Round 1: ch4 (counts as a tr), tr2tog in same st, *ch5, cluster. Rep from * until last cluster.

Work the last cluster as follows: *yo twice, insert hook in same st, yo, pull up a loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] twice. Rep from * twice (4 loops on hook). Sk5 sts, insert hook through top of the tr2tog, yo, pull up a loop, pull through the 4 loops on your hook. Ch1 to secure.

FINISHING

Fasten off leaving a long tail. Secure and weave in ends.


Attach handles and straps on the outside of bag. Using the same yarn, weave it through the tapestry needle and insert from inside the bag out. Insert the needle back through the other hole on strap and through to the back. Repeat once. Repeat for other side and other strap.


Fasten off, secure, and weave in all ends. Blocking is not necessary.
