Crochet Knots Slouch Pattern & Tutorial

I was super excited about providing patterns for the Bullying Prevention Month of October last year. This year, Lion Brand Yarns is starting early and I've got a few patterns for you! This Knot Slouch Stitch is the first of them!

Circumferece 20”-22”

Height 11.5”


YARN: Lion Brand Scarfie, Teal/Cream | 312 yards

HOOK: Tulip US I/5.5mm BRIM | US K/6.5mm BODY

ABBREVIATIONS

ch – Chain

st(s) – Stitch(es)

sl st(s) – Slip Stitch(es)

sc - Single Crochet

dc - Double Crochet

tbl – Through Back Loop

beg – Beginning

rep – Repeat

sc2tog – Single Crochet 2 sts together

dc2tog – Double Crochet 2 sts together


PATTERN

BRIM | Video| Worked flat with smaller hook

Row 1: ch7, 1sc in 2ndch from hook & every ch across (6 sts).

Row 2-55: ch1, turn. 1sc tbl of every st across (6 sts).

Note: Adjust number of rows for desired circumference. Measure brim while slightly stretched.


Seam short ends of brim with sl sts working tbl of the last row (Video tutorial). Flip brim right side out with seam inside.


BODY | Worked in the round with larger hook

Round 1: (Video) ch1, work 56 sc sts evenly around. Sl st to first sc st.

Round 2: ch1, *1sc in each of the next 4 sts, ch4. Rep from * around. Sl st to first sc.

Round 3 (6): ch1, 1sc in every st around. Keeping the ch4 in front of work. Sl st to first sc.

Round 4 (7): ch3 (counts as dc throughout), 1dc in every st around. Sl st in 3rdch from beg ch3.

Round 5: ch1, *1sc in each of the next 2 sts, ch4, 1sc in each of the next 2 sts. Rep from * around. Sl st to first sc.


Rep Rounds 2-7 twice. Adjust height by working more or less rounds.


DECREASE

Round 1: ch1, *1sc, sc2tog, 1sc, ch4. Rep from * around. Sl st to first sc.

Round 2 (5): ch1, 1sc in every st around. Sl st to first sc.

Round 3 (6): ch3, dc2tog, *1dc, dc2tog. Rep from * around. Sl st to first sc.

Round 4: ch1, *1sc in each of the next 2 sts, ch4. Rep from * around. Sl st to first sc.

Round 7: ch1, *1sc, sc2tog. Rep from * around. Sl st to first sc.


FINISHING

Cut a long enough tail to weave through the rows on top of the beanie. Cinch and tighten. Fasten off and weave in all ends.


Add a Yarn (video) or Faux Fur (video) pom pom if you’d like!
