Today's free pattern is on this quick hooded scarf. I didn't plan on adding pockets however my little man requested it. How can I say no?
With super bulky yarn & 4 balls of Lion Brand's Hometown USA, this is a quick project. It's also very easy to adjust using any stitch. I decided to use 2 different colors but you can definitely use 1.
Let's get started!

PATTERN
SCARF | Color A
Row 1 : ch 14 (or any number of sts for the width of the scarf).
sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook and in every ch across. (13 sts)
Note: As I mentioned earlier, you can use any stitch you'd like. Try different ribbing stitches here!
Row 2: ch1 & turn, sl st in every st through back loops ONLY. (13 sts)
Rep row 2 until you have the desired length for ONE side of the scarf. I crocheted until I ran out of my ball of yarn which was 81 yards and approx. 77 rows.
HOOD | Color B
Row 1: ch1 & turn, 1 sl st in every st across. ch 23 (or as high as you need for the measurement required from shoulder to top of crown. (37 sts)
Row 4: 1 sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in every st across. (36 sts)
Note: I got lazy and used double crochet stitches for hood lol but I think it would have looked better continuing with sl sts.
Row 5: ch2 (does not count as a st) & turn, 1 dc in every st across. (36 sts)
Repeat Row 5 until hood is wide enough to wrap from side to side. I used almost 2 skeins and had a total of 15 rows.
Row 6-7: ch1 & turn, sl st in every st across. (36 sts)
SCARF | Color A
Row 8: ch1, & turn, 1 sl st in 13 sts. (13 sts).
Repeat Row 8 for the same number of rows as the other side of the scarf.
Fold piece in half (from middle of hood). On the wrong side, using the same color yarn, sew the top of the hood together with your tapestry needle or use your hook and fasten on, then sl st across to sew together. Flip right side out.
POCKETS (optional) | Follow instructions for both ends of scarf
On the wrong side, fold up the ends to form the pocket size you want. sew edges together using scrap yarn (same color) and tapestry needle. Flip pocket so seam is on inside.
Finishing
Weave in all ends.
