Crochet Evan Chunky Hooded Cowl

A hooded cowl has been something I've been wanting to make for a long time... actually, there's a lot of things I still want to make.

Winter is coming soon and this hooded cowl is perfect for this cold season. It is crocheted with super bulky yarn so it's thick & cozy... not to mention, it works up pretty quickly too (my favorite thing about chunky crochet).

Supplies:

Super Chunky Yarn |Lion Brand, Wool Ease Thick & Quick in Raisin | 2-3 Skeins

9mm Crochet hook

Scissors

Yarn Needle

Abbreviations:

Ch - Chain

st(sts) – Stitch(es)

sl st – Slip Stitch

yo – Yarn Over

sc – Single Crochet

dc – Double Crochet

fpsc – Front Post Single Crochet

bpsc – Back Post Single Crochet

Circumference - 19"

Height - 13"

Ch 32, sl st to the beginning ch careful not to twist stitches.

Round 1-6: ch2, 1dc into each st around. Sl st to the first dc.

Now worked back and forth:

Row 7-16: ch2 & turn. 1 dc into each ch to the end.

Turn piece inside out. Sl st along the top edge of hooded cowl or sew with yarn needle.

Turn hooded cowl right side out. Attach yarn to bottom of the opening.

Round 1: 1sc around the opening in multiples of 2 sts. Sl st to the first sc.

Round 2-3: ch1 *1fpsc, 1bpsc. Repeat from * around. Sl st to the top of the beginning chain.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Using a contrasting color (or same color) and chain a number of stitches that fits around the opening of the hood + 24”. Weave through the hood from bottom of opening around & back down.
