Crochet Crab Stitch Tutorial

Ah! The Crab Stitch. What a funny name right? ha-ha It makes a great crochet edging and is really simple to achieve. You may need a little time to get used to it (I sure did).

The Crab Stitch is a single crochet stitch worked in the opposite direction. Normally, we crochet to the left of our work. With the Crab Stitch, you're working your single crochet stitches to the right of your work. That's it! Simple as that!

I found a granny square in my craft room, soI thought I'd use that to add the Crab Stitch.

Here is a basket I made for my son's teacher for Valentine's Day. The Big Heart Basket pattern is available here.

I also used it for a Chunky c2c Blanket. The Pattern is available here.

You can't really see it in this photo but I also used it in my new Caroline Cardigan for a textured edging on the collar (coming soon!).
