Crochet Freya Cardigan FREE Pattern + Video

Hi everyone! The Crochet Freya Cardigan is finally live! I attempted a lace pattern in a raglan style and it wasn't as easy as I thought! After my wonderful testers combed through it, I feel a lot better about it.

I used Lion Brand's NuBoo but it won't be around for long. I'm so sad about that!

NOTES – Pattern is written in US terms. Read through the pattern, study the charts, and circle the size you’re making prior to starting. After the first 1-5 rows, you will have more shells between the increase stitches (marked by the pink color) as your yoke gets larger. Place a marker at the increase stitches to help identify where to increase.

Instructions Sizes XS/S (M/L, XL/2X, 3X, 4X, 5X) YOKE Foundation: ch 82 (82, 82, 92, 92, 92) sts, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook & each ch across. 81 (81, 81, 91, 91, 91) sts Note: The chart shows a total of 81 sts for the foundation. If you ch 92, you will have 1 extra shell st in the back (5 shells). Row 1 (rs): ch1, 1sc in same st, [*sk4 sts, shell in next st, sk4 sts, 1sc in next st*, place marker on last sc st, (RIGHT Front), Rep between * * once, place marker on last sc st, (RIGHT Sleeve)]. Rep rows 2-5 for a total of 6 (8, 10, 11, 12, 13) SHELL rows or until you have 8 (10, 12, 13, 14, 15) total shells on the BACK of the yoke ending on row 3.

Follow the (left) chart for crocheting the sides & for the (right) chart for corner increases.

Note: You can adjust size by repeating rows 2-5 until desired (width) back size.

note: this will also increase armhole size

Separating sleeves from yoke

ch 4, 1tr in same st, (ch3, 1sc in center of shell, ch3, v st in sc) twice, ch3, 1sc in center of shell, {ch3, sk all sleeve sts, 1sc in center of corner shell}, [ch3, v st in sc, ch3, 1sc in center of shell]. Rep bet [ ] until next corner shell st. Rep bet { }, then rep bet [ ] twice. End with ch3, 2tr sts in last st.

BODY

BODY STITCH PATTERN Row 1: ch1, 1sc in same st, {[shell in sc st, 1sc in next ch1-sp]. Rep bet [ ] until right before the corner shell st, sk the next sc from the increase (pink) shell. Do not work a shell here. Work 1 shell st in ch3 sp below the underarm sleeve, sk the next sc in the corner, 1sc in next ch1-sp from the v st.} Rep bet { } once. Then rep bet [ ] working the last sc in the sp bet the ch4 & tr st.

Row 2: ch4, 1tr in same st, *ch3, 1sc in center

of shell, ch3**, v st in sc. Rep from * ending the

last rep at **.

Row 3: ch1, 1sc in same st, *shell in sc st, 1sc in

next ch1-sp. Rep from * working the last sc in the

sp bet the ch4 & tr st.

Rep rows 2-3 until desired length.

Optional: You can add a row or 2 to the edges of the

front by fastening on the bottom corner RIGHT front

and

Row 1: ch1, sc along the edges up the RIGHT front,

and across the neck, back down the LEFT front.

Row 2: ch1, turn, 1sc in each st across.

Rep rows 1 -2 if desired.

FINISHING

Fasten off, secure, and weave in all ends.

Block as desired.
