Knit Kori Beanie FREE Pattern

Hi Friends! The Kori Beanie is finally live!!! I thought I'd try giving the brim the main focus with a plain body. Don't get me wrong. You can definitely knit the brim all the way up for an all-over beanie. A video tutorial is provided below and in the pattern.

4” = 12 Stitches | 16 Rounds

YARN | Bulky #5 (124-200 yards)

MEASUREMENTS

This is just a standard head sizing chart provided for your convenience. This is not the finished beanie size. Sizes may differ due to knitter’s tension and type of yarn used.

Instructions | Video Tutorial

Sizes: Baby (Toddler, Child, Adult)

BRIM | Smaller Needle Size

Co 40 (48, 56, 64) + 1 more st for the invisible joining method, careful not to twist sts. Add stitch marker before starting.

Rounds 1- 4 [k3, p1]. Rep between [ ] around.

Round 5: [yb, sl 3 sts, yf, sl 3 sts from right to left, yb, sl 3 sts from left to right, p next st]. Rep between [ ] around.

Repeat Rounds 1-5 another 1(1, 2, 2, 2) time(s).

BODY | Larger Needle Size

The body is k in stockinette Stitches.

K every st until beanie measures 2” below the height measurement (see chart on page 1).

Measure from the bottom of brim up. Examples: For a 9-year-old, stop at 6” for an 8” beanie. Adjust as desired keeping in mind the decrease is approx. 2”..

Decrease Rounds | Switch to dpns when stitches are too tight on circular needles or try the Modified Magic Loop!

Round 1: knit all stitches

Round 2: *k4, k2tog. Rep from * around. Knit any rem sts.

Round 3: k all stitches

Round 4: *k3, k2tog. Rep from * around. Knit any rem sts.

Round 5: knit all stitches

Round 6: *k2, k2tog. Rep from * around. Knit any rem sts.

Round 7: *k1, k2tog. Rep from * around. Knit any rem sts.

Rep last round if needed to close the crown.

FINISHING Cut yarn leaving a long tail. Using a tapestry needle, weave through remaining stitches as if to knit and pull tight. Secure and weave in all ends.

Pom Pom

Using an extra-large pom pom maker (or desired size), make pom pom by wrapping yarn around pom maker until full or as thick as you’d like and attach to beanie.
