Knit Double Layered Beanie Pattern + Tutorial

Welcome! Today’s tutorial is on the Basic Double Layered Beanie. I recently released a Knit Double Brimmed Beanie, so why not double the whole thing too!?

Since it's doubled layered, you will be using quite a bit of yarn. You have the option to make it a solid color or two-toned.

See below video (or watch here) for step-by-step instructions or visit my channel for more videos.

Instructions | Video Tutorial

Baby (Toddler, Child, Adult)

Start with Main Color (mc)

Co 56 (64, 74, 80) sts, leaving a long tail. Place marker on needles and join (try the invisible joining method), careful not to twist your sts.

Customize: Adjust your co sts for desired circumference size; 3.5 sts per inch. Adjust height (slouch) as desired; 6 rounds per inch.

BODY (mc): 35 (40, 45, 50) rounds.

Worked in stockinette stitches (k all sts).

Note: If you are using one color, you will knit a total 96 (110, 126, 140) rounds with the same color.

Brim (cc): 26 (30, 36, 40) rounds.

Round 1: k all sts

Round 2: To avoid a jog, work the first stitch as follows: Pick up the right leg of the st below and place it on the left-hand needle, k this st with the first st together (k2tog). k all rem sts. Continue in stockinette stitches.

BODY (mc): 35 (40, 45, 50) rounds.

FINISHING

Cut yarn leaving long tail. Using a tapestry needle, weave through stitches as if to knit. Do not pull tight yet.

On the co edge, use a tapestry needle to weave tail into the sts and pull as tight as you can to cinch closed.

Insert your arm in the tube and pull the co edge up so that both ends meet making sure the right side (knit side) is on the outside.

Tighten & secure the co edge, careful not to break your yarn. Do not cut yarn yet. Tighten the other end as tight as you can without breaking your yarn.

Tie strands from both ends together 3+ times. Secure and weave ends in-between the two layers.
